GIA Certified Diamonds – Independently Verified Quality

At MyAntwerpDiamonds, we offer GIA-certified diamonds, independently graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the world’s leading diamond grading authority.

Diamonds weighing 0.20 carats or more are often accompanied by individual GIA grading reports, assessing their quality based on the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. Many GIA-graded diamonds also feature a microscopic laser inscription on the girdle (outer edge of the diamond), displaying their unique GIA report number for easy identification and verification.

Diamonds weighing less than 0.20 carats are rarely graded individually by independent laboratories, as grading costs can be disproportionate to their value.

IGI and HRD Certification

Other internationally recognized diamond grading laboratories, such as IGI (International Gemological Institute) and HRD Antwerp, also issue diamond grading reports, although these are less commonly offered in our collection.

At MyAntwerpDiamonds, customers are always informed of the grading laboratory and certification accompanying their diamond before making a purchase, ensuring complete transparency.

Understanding a Diamond Grading Report

1. Report Number
A unique ID used to verify the diamond online. Helps ensure traceability and authenticity.
2. Shape and Cutting Style
Describes the diamond’s outline (e.g., Round, Oval) and how it has been faceted (e.g., Brilliant, Step Cut).
3. Measurements
Lists the diamond’s dimensions in millimeters: minimum diameter × maximum diameter × depth.
4. Carat Weight
The actual weight of the diamond. For example, 1.00 carat equals 200 milligrams.
5. Color Grade
Graded from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Indicates how white the diamond appears.
6. Clarity Grade
Evaluates the presence of internal inclusions or external blemishes under 10× magnification. Scale: FL to I3.
7. Cut Grade
For round brilliants only. Assesses how well the diamond is cut to reflect light. Scale: Excellent to Poor.
8. Polish
Refers to the smoothness of the diamond’s surface after cutting. Affects brilliance slightly.
9. Symmetry
Measures how precisely the facets are aligned and balanced. Impacts light performance and appearance.
10. Fluorescence
Indicates how the diamond reacts to UV light (usually blue). Can be None, Faint, Medium, or Strong.
11. Comments
Notes any additional features not captured in other grades (e.g., graining, extra facets).
12. Proportions Diagram
A side-view diagram showing depth, angles, and proportions that affect the cut quality.
13. Clarity Plot
Visual map (in full reports only) showing where inclusions and blemishes appear on the diamond.
14. Laser Inscription
Shows if the diamond’s girdle is laser-etched with the report number for security.
